Ciphrocet 30mg Tablets (28 pack) contain cinacalcet, a calcimimetic medicine that helps control overactive parathyroid glands. It is used mainly in people with long-term kidney disease on dialysis who have secondary hyperparathyroidism, and in certain people with parathyroid cancer or a severely overactive parathyroid gland. Cinacalcet works by lowering the level of parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcium in the blood, which helps protect the bones and reduce complications of kidney-related bone and mineral problems. Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, WITH food or shortly after a meal (food helps it absorb), at the same time each day. Do not chew, crush or split it. The dose is started low and adjusted based on your blood tests, so attend your calcium, phosphorus and PTH blood-test appointments. Do not change the dose yourself.

The main risk is low blood calcium. Tell your doctor about numbness or tingling (especially around the mouth), muscle cramps or twitching, or seizures, as these can signal low calcium, and attend your monitoring blood tests. Take care with nausea and vomiting, which are common. Tell your doctor about liver problems, heart failure or fits, and about all other medicines.
