Euthyrox 100mcg Tablets (30 pack) from Merck contain levothyroxine, the standard replacement hormone for an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet once daily on an empty stomach, 30-60 minutes before breakfast, with water. Take it at the same time every day and do not stop without medical advice. Treatment is usually lifelong. Separate from calcium, iron, antacids and coffee by at least 4 hours (2 hours minimum) as they block absorption. Attend TSH blood tests as scheduled.

Dose changes must be guided by blood tests. Too much causes palpitations, tremor, insomnia and bone thinning; too little leaves symptoms uncontrolled. Caution with heart disease and uncorrected adrenal insufficiency. Tell your doctor. Pregnancy usually requires a dose increase. Inform your doctor immediately when pregnant; levothyroxine is safe and essential in pregnancy. Many medicines interact (warfarin, diabetes medicines, oestrogens). Review your list with a pharmacist.
