Overview

Silverex Cream 25g contains silver sulfadiazine 1%, the classic antibacterial burn cream used to prevent and treat infection in burns, scalds, raw wounds and leg ulcers. Silver ions disrupt bacterial cell processes across a broad spectrum of organisms, including Pseudomonas. The germ most feared in burn wounds. Keeping damaged skin clean while it heals. A first-aid cupboard essential in homes where cooking burns and scalds are common, used on clean wounds under appropriate guidance.

Silver sulfadiazine 1% w/w cream.

Directions for Use

First cool the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes. Clean and gently dry the area, then apply a 3-5mm layer of cream over the burn using a sterile glove or spatula, once or twice daily. Cover with a sterile non-stick dressing if advised. Reapply after cleaning if the cream rubs or washes off. Seek medical care for burns larger than the palm, deep burns, or burns on the face, hands, joints or genitals.

Do not use if allergic to sulfa (sulfonamide) medicines. Avoid in pregnancy near term, on premature babies and infants under 2 months (jaundice risk), and with significant kidney or liver impairment except on medical advice. Not for the eyes or mouth. May cause temporary skin discolouration; transient stinging can occur. Large-area, long-term use needs blood monitoring. Stop if rash worsens or fever develops. See a doctor.
