Overview

Betadine Solution is an aqueous solution of 10% povidone-iodine. It is a fast-acting, broad-spectrum antiseptic that helps reduce bacteria that potentially can cause skin infection. It is used for degerming skin, wounds and mucous membranes, and for preoperative skin preparation of patients.

Directions for Use

Therapeutic indications: For use as a pre-operative and post-operative antiseptic skin cleanser for major and minor surgical procedures. Method of administration: Topical administration. Adults, the elderly and children: Apply full strength as a pre-operative and post-operative antiseptic skin cleanser. Avoid pooling both under the patients and in the skin folds. Wash off excess solution before using occlusive dressings.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to iodine, polyvinylpyrrolidine or to any excipient. History of abnormal thyroid function or goitre.
