Mestinon 60mg Tablets (20 pack) contain pyridostigmine 60mg, a medicine for myasthenia gravis. An autoimmune condition causing muscle weakness. Pyridostigmine boosts the chemical messenger (acetylcholine) at the nerve-muscle junction, improving muscle strength and reducing the weakness, drooping eyelids, swallowing difficulty and fatigue of myasthenia. A long-established treatment used under specialist guidance.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take exactly as prescribed. Doses and timing are highly individual in myasthenia, often spread through the day and timed around meals or activities. Take consistently as scheduled; do not change the dose or timing yourself, as both too little and too much can worsen weakness. Confirm your regimen with your specialist.

Both under-dosing and over-dosing can cause dangerous worsening of weakness. Never adjust the dose yourself, and seek urgent help for severe worsening weakness or breathing or swallowing difficulty. Common effects (from increased acetylcholine) include abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, increased saliva, sweating and a slow heart rate. Report troublesome symptoms.
