Directions for Use

This is a prescription contraceptive administered as a single subcutaneous (under the skin) injection into the thigh or abdomen once every 13 weeks (3 months). It should be given by a trained healthcare provider, or self-injected only after training and guidance from a health professional. The first dose is ideally given within the first 5 days of your menstrual cycle. Mark your calendar and return for your repeat injection on time. A delay beyond the dosing window can reduce protection. Follow the instructions provided with the device and dispose of the used injector safely.

Do not use if pregnant, or if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding, breast cancer, severe liver disease or a history of blood clots. Periods commonly become irregular, lighter or stop altogether. This is expected; fertility may take several months to return after stopping. Long-term use may reduce bone mineral density, which usually recovers after stopping. Discuss duration of use with your provider, especially for adolescents. Does not protect against HIV or STIs. Use condoms for protection. Discuss all medicines you take with your provider.
