Overview

ECee2 Tablets (2 pack) are an emergency contraceptive containing levonorgestrel, taken after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure (such as a burst condom or missed pills) to help prevent pregnancy. Levonorgestrel works mainly by delaying ovulation and is most effective the sooner it is taken. Ideally within 24 hours and no later than 72 hours after unprotected sex. Emergency contraception is a backup, not a regular family planning method; it does not protect against HIV or other sexually transmitted infections.

Levonorgestrel 0.75mg per tablet (two-tablet pack). Confirm regimen on product packaging.

Directions for Use

Take as soon as possible after unprotected sex. Effectiveness is highest in the first 24 hours and declines with delay; do not exceed 72 hours. Follow the pack directions: take the tablet(s) as directed, with water, with or without food. If you vomit within 3 hours of taking a dose, take another dose. Your next period may come early or late. Do a pregnancy test if it is more than 7 days late.

Not intended for regular use. Talk to a healthcare provider about reliable ongoing contraception (pills, injections, implants, IUDs). Do not use if you are already pregnant. It will not work and is not an abortion pill. Effectiveness may be reduced by enzyme-inducing medicines (rifampicin, some epilepsy and HIV medicines) and in higher-weight women. Ask a pharmacist. Seek care for severe lower abdominal pain after use (rare ectopic pregnancy). Does not protect against STIs. Store below 30°C.
