Overview

Riva Q 10mg contains rivaroxaban, an anticoagulant (‘blood thinner’) of the direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) type. It is a prescription medicine used to prevent and treat blood clots. For example to prevent clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis) and lungs (pulmonary embolism), including after certain hip or knee operations. Rivaroxaban works by blocking a clotting factor (Factor Xa) in the blood, reducing the formation of harmful clots. It is taken regularly as directed to lower the risk of dangerous clots. Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The 10mg dose is usually taken once a day, with or without food, at about the same time each day, swallowed with water (some higher-dose uses must be taken with food. Follow your doctor's instructions). Do not stop taking it suddenly without medical advice, as this can increase the risk of a clot.

Rivaroxaban increases the risk of bleeding. Tell your doctor before any surgery or dental work, and report unusual bleeding, blood in the urine or stool, black stools, severe headache or prolonged nosebleeds. Do not use if you have active bleeding or certain liver disease, and use with caution in kidney problems. Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding. It interacts with several medicines (including other blood thinners and some antifungals and antibiotics). Tell your doctor everything you take. Do not miss doses. Store below 30°C.
