Overview

Zalac SP is a prescription tablet for acid-related stomach problems, combining rabeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor) with domperidone (a prokinetic). It is used to relieve gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux, heartburn, indigestion and the nausea or bloating that often come with them. Rabeprazole works by reducing the amount of acid the stomach produces, helping to ease heartburn and heal acid-related damage, while domperidone speeds up stomach emptying and reduces nausea and the sensation of fullness. Together they give effective, dual-action relief for people troubled by reflux and slow, uncomfortable digestion.

Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take one tablet daily, about 30-60 minutes before a meal (usually before breakfast), swallowed whole with water - do not crush or chew. Use for the duration your doctor advises; it is generally intended for short-term courses. If symptoms persist after the recommended course, go back to your doctor for review rather than continuing indefinitely.

Not suitable if you are allergic to rabeprazole or domperidone, or if you have certain heart-rhythm problems, significant liver impairment, or a blockage/bleeding in the gut - domperidone can affect heart rhythm, so tell your doctor about heart conditions or other medicines you take. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice. Long-term acid suppression may affect absorption of vitamin B12, magnesium and calcium. Report persistent difficulty swallowing, vomiting or unintended weight loss. Store below 30°C, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
