Overview

Amantadine 100mg Tablets are used in Parkinson's disease. Improving stiffness, slowness and tremor, and notably easing the involuntary movements (dyskinesias) that long-term levodopa can cause, and for certain other neurological indications as prescribed. A versatile, well-established helper in the Parkinson's toolkit.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take as prescribed, typically once or twice daily. With the second dose taken by early afternoon, as later dosing can disturb sleep. Take consistently and do not stop suddenly: amantadine should be withdrawn gradually under medical guidance, as abrupt stopping can worsen symptoms significantly.

May cause ankle swelling, mottled skin discolouration (livedo reticularis), vivid dreams, insomnia, confusion or hallucinations. Particularly in the elderly; report these. Use caution in kidney impairment (doses reduced), seizure history, heart failure and glaucoma. May cause dizziness. Rise slowly and assess before driving.
