Overview

Ulgicid Suspension is a pleasant mint-flavoured antacid that quickly relieves the discomfort of excess stomach acid. It neutralises acid to ease heartburn, acid reflux, indigestion and the burning or sour feeling that can follow meals, while its anti-foaming action also helps relieve trapped wind and bloating. The smooth liquid coats and soothes the stomach lining for fast, gentle relief. Ulgicid is suitable for adults and is a handy choice for occasional acidity, indigestion after rich or spicy food, and the heartburn that can occur during pregnancy (use under guidance).

Typical active ingredients per dose: Dried aluminium hydroxide gel, Magnesium hydroxide, and Simethicone (activated dimethicone) for anti-foaming. Mint flavoured.

Directions for Use

Shake the bottle well before use. Take 1-2 teaspoonfuls (about 5-10 ml) after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist, typically when symptoms occur. Do not exceed the maximum daily amount stated on the pack. For best effect, take between meals and before bed rather than with food. Separate Ulgicid from other medicines by about 2 hours, as antacids can affect how other drugs are absorbed.

Antacids can reduce the absorption of other medicines (such as certain antibiotics, iron and thyroid tablets), so take them at least 2 hours apart. Use with caution if you have kidney problems, a low-sodium diet, or heart failure, due to the magnesium and aluminium content. Magnesium may loosen stools while aluminium may cause constipation. Do not use continuously for more than 2 weeks without advice; persistent indigestion should be checked. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding. Store below 25C; do not freeze.
