Overview

Lipitas 80mg Tablets (10 pack) contain atorvastatin, a cholesterol-lowering medicine from the statin family. The 80mg strength is a high dose used to strongly lower "bad" LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, often after a cardiovascular event or in people at high risk. Atorvastatin works by blocking an enzyme in the liver that makes cholesterol. Used with a healthy diet, it helps protect the heart and blood vessels. Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day, swallowed with water. Keep taking it regularly even though high cholesterol usually causes no symptoms, and do not stop without advice. Continue your healthy diet and exercise, and attend your cholesterol and liver blood tests. The 80mg dose is used under medical supervision.

Report any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness promptly, especially with fever or dark urine. The risk of muscle problems is higher at the 80mg dose. Avoid large amounts of grapefruit juice and excess alcohol, and tell your doctor about liver, kidney or thyroid problems and all other medicines. Do NOT use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
