Overview
Imdur 60mg (isosorbide mononitrate) is a prescription extended-release nitrate medicine used to prevent angina (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart). It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood and reducing the heart's workload. Taken regularly, Imdur helps reduce the frequency of angina attacks in adults. It is a preventer, not a reliever for an attack in progress.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Imdur 60mg is usually taken once daily in the morning, swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the extended-release tablet. Keeping a regular morning dose helps maintain a nitrate-free period that keeps the medicine working. Do not stop suddenly, as this can worsen angina.
This is a prescription medicine. Commonly causes headache (often eases with continued use) and dizziness. Rise slowly when standing. Do not use with medicines for erectile dysfunction (such as sildenafil/tadalafil), as the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Tell your doctor about low blood pressure or heart valve problems. Limit alcohol. Do not stop abruptly. Store in a cool, dry place.
