Epsom Salt 100g is pure magnesium sulphate, a time-tested multi-purpose remedy. Dissolved in a warm bath or foot soak, Epsom salt is traditionally used to relax tired, aching muscles and soften skin. Taken by mouth in the correct dose, magnesium sulphate acts as a saline (osmotic) laxative for the short-term relief of occasional constipation, drawing water into the bowel to ease stool passage. Directions for Use
For occasional constipation (adults): dissolve the dose stated on the packaging. Commonly one to two teaspoons. In a full glass of water and drink, preferably on an empty stomach; a bowel movement typically follows within 30 minutes to 6 hours. Do not use as a laxative for more than a few days. For a muscle-relaxing soak: dissolve one to two handfuls in a warm bath or basin of water and soak for about 15-20 minutes. Follow the directions on the packaging.
Do not take orally if you have severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, intestinal blockage, kidney disease or a magnesium-restricted diet. Seek medical advice first. Prolonged laxative use can cause dependence and salt imbalance; if constipation persists beyond a few days, see a doctor or pharmacist. Drink plenty of fluids when using as a laxative. For external use, avoid broken or infected skin. Use in pregnancy or in children only on a healthcare professional's advice. Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place.
