Acetazolamide 250mg Tablets contain acetazolamide, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor with several uses. It lowers the pressure inside the eye, making it useful in glaucoma; it acts as a mild diuretic to reduce fluid build-up; it helps prevent and relieve altitude (mountain) sickness; and it is used as an add-on in certain types of epilepsy. By altering the balance of fluids and salts, it relieves the raised eye pressure, swelling or symptoms these conditions cause. A versatile, doctor-prescribed medicine used across several conditions .

Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. The dose and schedule depend on the condition being treated, swallowed with water. For preventing altitude sickness it is usually started a day or two before ascending and continued as advised. Keep taking it as prescribed, and attend any blood tests your doctor arranges during longer-term use.
May cause tingling in the fingers, toes or around the mouth, an altered (often metallic) taste, increased urination and mild drowsiness. Drink plenty of fluids. It can affect potassium and other salts and is related to sulfonamides. Tell your doctor about any sulfa allergy, kidney or liver problems, or other medicines. Seek advice for any rash, unusual tiredness or persistent vomiting. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. Store below 30°C.
