Overview

Angizaar-H is a combination blood pressure tablet containing losartan potassium (an angiotensin-receptor blocker, ARB) and hydrochlorothiazide (a thiazide diuretic, or "water tablet"). It is a prescription medicine used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) when a single medicine is not enough. Losartan relaxes and widens the blood vessels, while hydrochlorothiazide helps the body remove excess salt and water. Together they lower blood pressure more effectively. Controlling high blood pressure helps reduce the long-term risk of stroke, heart attack and kidney problems.

Losartan potassium 50mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg (confirm strengths on the packaging).

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. It is usually taken as one tablet once a day, at the same time each day, swallowed whole with water, with or without food. Because the diuretic can increase urination, many people prefer to take it in the morning. Do not stop taking it suddenly, even if you feel well.

Do not use in pregnancy. It can harm an unborn baby; tell your doctor if you are or may become pregnant. Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, diabetes, gout, or abnormal potassium levels. It can cause dizziness (especially the first dose) and changes in salt levels, so blood tests may be needed. Avoid potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised. Rise slowly from sitting or lying, and limit strong sun exposure (risk of skin sensitivity). Store below 30°C.
