Anti-D (Rho) Immunoglobulin is a specialist biological injection given to women who are Rhesus-negative (Rh-negative) blood group. It is used during and after pregnancy, and after events such as miscarriage, certain procedures or bleeding. To prevent the mother's immune system from reacting against Rh-positive blood from her baby. This protects future pregnancies from a serious condition called haemolytic disease of the newborn. Directions for Use

This medicine is administered under specialist medical supervision only. It is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse, with the dose and timing decided by your healthcare team based on your situation (for example, around 28 weeks of pregnancy and shortly after delivery if the baby is Rh-positive, or after a sensitising event). You do not take or give this medicine yourself. Attend your antenatal appointments so it can be given at the right times.

Given only by healthcare professionals, who will check your blood group and screen for reactions. Tell your care team about any previous reaction to immunoglobulin or blood products, or if you have IgA deficiency. As with any injection, mild soreness at the site, or rarely an allergic reaction, can occur and will be monitored. It is important not to miss the recommended doses, as protection depends on correct timing. Storage and handling are managed by the clinic.
