Overview

Carditan AM Tablets combine two blood-pressure medicines. Losartan, an angiotensin-receptor blocker, with amlodipine, a calcium-channel blocker. Losartan relaxes blood vessels by blocking a hormone that tightens them, while amlodipine widens the arteries directly. Together lowering blood pressure more effectively and smoothly than either alone, from a single daily tablet. Combining two complementary actions also helps reduce side effects and improves the chance of reaching target. Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet once daily, with or without food, swallowed with water at the same time each day. Keep taking it even when you feel well, and do not stop without advice. Attend regular blood-pressure, kidney and potassium checks so the dose can be adjusted as needed.

Do not use in pregnancy. Tell your doctor at once if you become or plan to become pregnant. May cause dizziness or ankle swelling, especially at first or on standing. Rise slowly. Can raise blood potassium and affect the kidneys; tell your doctor about kidney problems, dehydration or potassium supplements. Avoid grapefruit, which can raise amlodipine levels. Store below 30°C.
