Citopam tablets contains citalopram 20 mg which is used in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorder, phobia, post traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Citopam 20 mg Tablet is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger in the brain. This improves mood and physical symptoms in depression and relieves symptoms of panic and obsessive disorders. It is a controlled drug in Kenya and a valid prescription from a registered doctor is required to obtain the prescribed doses.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Citopam 20 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Citopam 20 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol,thus should be avoided. It is unsafe to use during pregnancy and lactation.
