Donecept 5 mg tablet contains Donepezil 5 mg which is used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and dementia in Parkinson's disease. It should be used in patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. Memory loss in Alzheimer’s disease occurs due to disturbances of signal transmission in the brain. Donecept 5 mg Tablet is a cholinesterase inhibitor. It works by increasing the levels of a chemical messenger (acetylcholine) involved in transmission of nerve signals. This improves memory and thinking.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Donecept 5 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Donecept 5 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy and probably unsafe to use during lactation.Please consult your doctor. It should be used with caution in patients with liver disease.
