Donet-M 400SR is a prescription respiratory tablet that combines two medicines - doxofylline 400mg (in a sustained-release form) and montelukast 10mg. It is used in the long-term management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), helping to keep the airways open and reduce breathing difficulty. Doxofylline is a bronchodilator that relaxes and widens the airways, while montelukast blocks leukotrienes - natural substances that cause airway swelling and tightening. Together they help control wheezing, chest tightness and shortness of breath, and the sustained-release design gives longer-lasting effect with once-daily dosing.

Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take one tablet once daily, swallowed whole with water - do not crush or chew the sustained-release tablet. It is often taken in the evening. Use it regularly to prevent symptoms, not only when breathless; it is a preventer, not a reliever inhaler. Keep using your other prescribed asthma/COPD medicines and reliever inhaler as directed, and attend reviews so your doctor can assess your breathing.

Not suitable if you are allergic to doxofylline, other xanthines or montelukast. Tell your doctor if you have heart rhythm problems, an overactive thyroid, stomach ulcers, epilepsy, or liver or kidney problems. Montelukast has rarely been linked to mood or behaviour changes (such as agitation, sleep problems or low mood) - report any such changes. It is not a rescue medicine for a sudden asthma attack. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice. Store below 30°C, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
