Overview

Drez Ointment is a topical antiseptic and antibacterial ointment containing povidone-iodine and metronidazole, used to treat and prevent infection in wounds, cuts, minor burns and skin ulcers (such as leg ulcers and bedsores). Povidone-iodine kills a broad range of bacteria, fungi and other microbes, while metronidazole targets bacteria and protozoa and helps reduce wound odour, supporting cleaner wounds and healing. This 30g ointment is used for wound care by patients and carers .

Directions for Use

This is a prescription/pharmacist medicine. Use as directed. Clean the wound first, then apply a thin layer of the ointment to the affected area, and cover with a dressing if advised. Use once or twice daily or as directed by your healthcare provider. Avoid the eyes, and wash hands after use.

For external use only. Avoid the eyes. Take special care with large or deep wounds, as significant iodine absorption can occur with extensive use; avoid prolonged use over large areas. Not suitable for people with iodine sensitivity or certain thyroid conditions. Check with a doctor. Use with caution in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Seek medical care for deep, heavily contaminated or non-healing wounds, or signs of spreading infection (increasing redness, swelling, pus, fever). Discontinue if irritation develops.
