Overview
Meuri 150/30mcg is a combined oral contraceptive ('the pill') containing a progestogen (desogestrel 150mcg) and an oestrogen (ethinylestradiol 30mcg). Taken daily, it prevents pregnancy mainly by stopping the release of an egg (ovulation), and also thickens cervical mucus and thins the womb lining. As a reliable daily contraceptive, it is used by women to prevent pregnancy and can also help regulate periods and reduce period pain, under a doctor's guidance (28-tablet pack).
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take exactly as directed. Take one tablet at the same time each day following the pack order/arrows. With a 28-day pack, take a tablet every day with no break; with a 21-day pack, take for 21 days then have a 7-day break. If you start late or miss pills, follow the missed-pill instructions in the leaflet and use extra (barrier) protection as advised. It is not for emergency (after-sex) contraception.
This is a prescription medicine. It does not protect against HIV or other sexually transmitted infections. Use condoms for that. Combined pills carry a small increased risk of blood clots; seek urgent help for calf pain/swelling, chest pain, breathlessness, severe headache or sudden vision changes. Not suitable if you smoke and are over 35, or have a history of clots, certain migraines, some cancers, or uncontrolled high blood pressure. Give your full medical history. Effectiveness can be reduced by vomiting, diarrhoea or some medicines. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding. Store in a cool, dry place.
