Overview
Pronta 1 (levonorgestrel 1.5mg) is an emergency contraceptive ('morning-after pill') used to help prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure (such as a burst condom or missed pills). It contains a single 1.5mg tablet of levonorgestrel, a progestogen that works mainly by delaying or preventing the release of an egg (ovulation). It is most effective the sooner it is taken, ideally within 72 hours. It is intended for occasional emergency use. Not as a regular method of contraception. For women .
Directions for Use
Take the single tablet by mouth as soon as possible after unprotected sex. Ideally within 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours (3 days), as it becomes less effective with time. It can be taken at any point in the menstrual cycle. If you vomit within 3 hours of taking it, take another tablet. Use a barrier method (condoms) until your next period.
For occasional emergency use only. It is not as effective as regular contraception and does not protect against HIV or other sexually transmitted infections. It does not end an existing pregnancy. Your next period may be earlier or later than usual; take a pregnancy test if it is more than 5 days late, or if you have severe lower tummy pain (to rule out ectopic pregnancy). It may cause nausea, tiredness, headache or spotting. Tell the pharmacist about any medicines you take, as some reduce its effect. If you are already on regular contraception, continue it. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider; speak to one about ongoing contraception. Keep out of reach of children.
