Overview

Gemflox 320mg Tablets (5 pack) contain gemifloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that treats certain bacterial infections. Gemifloxacin works by stopping bacteria from copying their DNA, clearing infections such as community-acquired pneumonia and acute worsening of chronic bronchitis, and certain other respiratory infections. Its once-daily dosing makes a short course convenient. The 320mg strength is the standard adult dose. A doctor-prescribed antibiotic, reserved for appropriate infections, helping people recover from significant chest and respiratory infections. Confirm the active on the pack.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one 320mg tablet once daily, swallowed whole with plenty of water, for the number of days prescribed (often 5 to 7). Take it at the same time each day, and avoid taking it within a few hours of antacids, or iron, zinc or calcium supplements, which reduce its absorption. Complete the full course even if you feel better, to clear the infection and help prevent resistance.

Fluoroquinolones can rarely cause tendon pain or rupture, nerve effects, or mood and heart-rhythm changes. Stop and seek advice for tendon pain or swelling, pins and needles, palpitations or fainting, and avoid in those with a history of these problems where possible. Avoid excess sun exposure. Tell your doctor about epilepsy, kidney problems, an irregular heartbeat or low potassium, and medicines that affect heart rhythm.
