Glysit 5mg (dapagliflozin) is a prescription medicine for type 2 diabetes. It belongs to a group called SGLT2 inhibitors and works by helping the kidneys remove excess glucose from the body through the urine, which lowers blood sugar. Alongside diet and exercise, it improves blood sugar control and can support weight and blood-pressure reduction; this class is also used to protect the heart and kidneys. Glysit helps adults manage type 2 diabetes, at the lower 5mg starting strength.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Glysit 5mg is usually taken once daily, with or without food, swallowed with water, at about the same time each day. Drink enough fluids to stay hydrated. Do not change the dose or stop without medical advice, and keep up with regular blood sugar checks.

This is a prescription medicine. May cause genital or urinary infections (drink water and maintain good hygiene), and dehydration or dizziness. Stop and seek urgent care for signs of diabetic ketoacidosis (nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, drowsiness, fast breathing). This can rarely occur even with near-normal blood sugar. Tell your doctor about kidney problems, and on its own it rarely causes low blood sugar (risk rises with insulin/sulfonylureas). Avoid in pregnancy/breastfeeding unless advised.
