Overview

Gramocef-O 200mg Capsules contain cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, in a standard adult strength. They are used to treat a range of bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), respiratory and chest infections, ear, nose and throat infections, typhoid fever and certain sexually transmitted infections. Cefixime works by killing the bacteria responsible for the infection. Gramocef-O is prescribed for adults and older children whose doctor has confirmed a bacterial infection that responds to cefixime; it does not work against viral illnesses such as colds or flu.

Active ingredient: Cefixime 200 mg per capsule.

Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Gramocef-O 200mg is usually taken once or twice daily with water, with or without food. Taking it with food can ease stomach upset. Swallow the capsule whole. Take doses at evenly spaced times each day and complete the full prescribed course even if you feel better after a few days, to fully clear the infection and reduce the risk of resistance.

Tell your doctor if you are allergic to cefixime, other cephalosporins or penicillins, or have kidney problems or a history of bowel disease. Diarrhoea is common; seek advice if it becomes severe, watery or bloody. Stop and seek urgent help for signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of the face or difficulty breathing. It may reduce the effectiveness of the contraceptive pill. Tell your doctor about other medicines, and if pregnant or breastfeeding. Store below 30C in a dry place.
