Overview

Aerius Syrup 0.5mg/ml from Organon/MSD contains desloratadine, a modern non-drowsy antihistamine in a pleasant-tasting syrup formulated for children. It relieves the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy watery eyes and nasal congestion, and calms the itching and rash of chronic urticaria (hives). Desloratadine works for a full 24 hours from one daily dose without causing the sleepiness of older allergy medicines, so children can learn and play normally. A paediatrician-trusted allergy solution for families, suitable from 1 year of age (60ml bottle).

Directions for Use

Give once daily, at the same time each day, with or without food, using the measuring spoon or syringe provided. Typical doses: children 1-5 years: 2.5ml (1.25mg) once daily; 6-11 years: 5ml (2.5mg) once daily; 12 years and over: 10ml (5mg) once daily, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If symptoms persist, see your doctor.

Do not use if allergic to desloratadine or loratadine. Not recommended for children under 1 year. Use with caution in severe kidney disease, or if the child has a rare hereditary sugar intolerance. The syrup contains sorbitol. Rarely causes tiredness, dry mouth or headache. Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding. If allergy symptoms come with wheezing or difficulty breathing, seek medical care. Antihistamines alone are not enough for asthma attacks. Store below 30°C.
