Dynacort 18mg Tablets (30 pack) contain deflazacort, a corticosteroid prescribed to calm excessive inflammation and immune activity in conditions such as severe asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, certain kidney disorders (nephrotic syndrome) and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Deflazacort offers potent anti-inflammatory action with comparatively less effect on bone and blood sugar than some older steroids at equivalent doses. A consideration for patients needing longer courses. The 18mg strength suits intermediate dosing as a doctor steps treatment up or down.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. The dose is individualised to your condition and weight, usually once daily in the morning with or after food. Never stop a steroid suddenly after more than a couple of weeks of use. The dose must be tapered under medical supervision to let your own cortisol recover. Carry a steroid card if on long-term treatment.

Long-term use can raise blood sugar and blood pressure, thin bones and skin, increase infection risk and cause weight gain. Use the lowest effective dose with regular monitoring. Avoid contact with chickenpox or measles if not immune and report exposure. Tell your doctor about diabetes, ulcers, glaucoma, TB history and mental health changes (steroids can affect mood).
