Prednisolone 5 mg is used in the treatment of severe allergic reactions, allergy symptoms, asthma, rheumatic disorder, skin disorders, eye disorders and nephrotic syndrome. It is a steroid which works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) and allergies.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Prednisolone may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Prednisolone may be unsafe to use during pregnancy but safe to use during lactation.Please consult your doctor. It is safe to use in patients with kidney disease but should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Common side effects include Skin thinning, Increased risk of infection, Reduction in bone density, Weight gain, Mood changes, Stomach upset, Behavioural changes, Increased glucose level in blood.
