Overview
Jentadueto 2.5/500mg Tablets (60 pack) combine two diabetes medicines. Linagliptin 2.5mg and metformin 500mg. In one tablet for type 2 diabetes. Linagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, helps the body release more of its own insulin when blood sugar is high and reduces the sugar made by the liver, while metformin lowers liver sugar production and improves how the body uses insulin. Together they give stronger blood-sugar control than either alone, helping protect against the long-term complications of diabetes. Linagliptin is also convenient as it needs no dose change in kidney problems. A doctor-prescribed combination for people whose type 2 diabetes needs more than one medicine.
Actives: Linagliptin 2.5mg and Metformin hydrochloride 500mg per tablet.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet twice daily with meals, swallowed whole with water. Taking it with food reduces stomach upset from the metformin. Do not skip meals. Keep to your diet, exercise and blood-sugar monitoring plan, and attend regular reviews of blood sugar and kidney function.
Stop and seek urgent care for vomiting, rapid breathing or severe weakness (rare lactic acidosis from metformin), or severe persistent stomach pain spreading to the back (possible pancreatitis). On its own this combination rarely causes low blood sugar, but the risk rises with a sulfonylurea or insulin. Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems, and pause around surgery or scans using contrast dye. Avoid excess alcohol. Long-term metformin can lower vitamin B12. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on specialist advice. Store below 30°C. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
