Overview
Piogluc 30mg Tablets (28 pack) contain pioglitazone, an oral medicine for type 2 diabetes. Pioglitazone works by making the body's cells more sensitive to insulin, so the body uses its own insulin more effectively to control blood sugar. It is used alongside diet and exercise, often added to other diabetes medicines such as metformin, to improve long-term blood-sugar control. By tackling insulin resistance, it helps protect against the complications of poorly controlled diabetes. The 30mg strength is a common maintenance dose. A doctor-prescribed option for people whose type 2 diabetes needs added control. Confirm the active on the pack.
Active: Pioglitazone 30mg (as hydrochloride) per tablet. Confirm on packaging.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day, swallowed with water. It works gradually, so blood-sugar improvement builds over weeks. Keep to your diet, exercise and blood-sugar monitoring plan, and attend regular reviews. Do not stop without advice.
Tell your doctor about heart failure or swelling, as pioglitazone can cause fluid retention. Report breathlessness, rapid weight gain or ankle swelling. It is not used in active bladder cancer or unexplained blood in the urine, and can slightly raise fracture risk with long use. May cause weight gain. Used with insulin or a sulfonylurea, it can contribute to low blood sugar. Tell your doctor about liver problems. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. Store below 30°C. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
