Overview

Dexa-G Eye Drops combine the antibiotic gentamicin with the anti-inflammatory steroid dexamethasone. They are prescribed for eye conditions where both infection and inflammation need treating, such as certain types of conjunctivitis and inflammation after eye surgery or injury. Gentamicin tackles the bacteria while dexamethasone reduces redness, swelling and irritation. Supplied as a 5ml bottle for short-term eye treatment under medical guidance.

Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Wash your hands first. Tilt your head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid and instil the prescribed number of drops into the pocket, usually a set number of times per day. Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye. If you wear contact lenses, remove them and follow your doctor's advice.

Not for use in many viral or fungal eye infections. Steroids can worsen these, so use only as prescribed. Prolonged use can raise eye pressure (glaucoma risk) and is monitored by your doctor. Do not share the bottle, and discard it as advised after opening. May cause brief stinging or blurred vision. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. Store below 25°C.
