Overview

Dura Tears Ointment (3.5g) from Alcon is a sterile lubricating eye ointment that gives long-lasting relief from dry, gritty, irritated eyes. Its rich, paraffin-based formula coats and protects the surface of the eye, sealing in moisture and soothing the burning and foreign-body feeling of dry eye, especially overnight when tears dry up. It is ideal for night-time use, for severe or persistent dry eye, and to protect the eye in conditions where the lids do not close fully. A comforting, doctor- or pharmacist-recommended option for people with troublesome dry eyes.

Lubricant eye ointment. Typically white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin and wool fat (lanolin). Confirm exact composition on packaging.

Directions for Use

Use as directed on the label or by your eye-care professional. Usually apply a small ribbon (about 1cm) inside the lower eyelid at bedtime, or as needed for relief. Wash your hands, tilt your head back, pull down the lower lid and apply the ribbon without touching the tube tip to the eye, then blink to spread it. Vision blurs after application, so it is best used at night.

For use in the eye only. Vision will blur temporarily after applying. Do not drive or operate machinery until it clears, so night-time use is preferred. Do not use while wearing soft contact lenses. If eye pain, marked redness, discharge or vision changes occur, stop and see an eye-care professional, as these need assessment. Discard 28 days after opening; do not share the tube.
