Overview
Alphagan P 0.1% Eye Drops 15ml contain brimonidine, a medicine that lowers raised pressure inside the eye. Used to treat glaucoma and ocular hypertension, protecting the optic nerve from pressure-related damage that can otherwise lead to gradual sight loss. Brimonidine both reduces fluid production and improves its drainage, and this 'P' formulation uses a gentler preservative.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Instil one drop into the affected eye(s) as prescribed, usually two or three times daily at evenly spaced intervals. Wash hands first, avoid touching the tip to the eye, and press the inner corner of the eye for a minute after instilling to reduce body absorption. Remove contact lenses before use and reinsert after 15 minutes. Use it every day, even though glaucoma has no symptoms. Consistency protects your sight.
Glaucoma treatment must be used consistently and long-term to protect vision. Never stop without your eye doctor's advice. May cause drowsiness, dry mouth, eye redness or irritation; brimonidine is not used in young children (risk of serious drowsiness and breathing effects). Keep strictly away from children. Tell your doctor about heart, blood pressure and circulation conditions, depression, and all medicines (including blood pressure medicines and antidepressants). Attend regular eye-pressure and optic-nerve checks. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
Brimonidine tartrate 0.1% ophthalmic solution (active ingredient).
