Overview
Xolamol Eye Drops combine dorzolamide and timolol. Two pressure-lowering medicines in one bottle. For glaucoma and ocular hypertension that a single agent cannot control. Dorzolamide reduces the production of fluid inside the eye while timolol, a beta-blocker, reduces it further by a second pathway; together they protect the optic nerve from the silent damage of high eye pressure. A convenient twice-daily combination that simplifies treatment for people managing glaucoma, the leading cause of irreversible blindness when untreated.
Dorzolamide (as hydrochloride) 2% w/v with timolol (as maleate) 0.5% w/v ophthalmic solution. Confirm on product packaging.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your eye specialist. Usually one drop into the affected eye(s) twice daily. Wash hands, tilt the head back, pull down the lower lid and instil one drop without touching the eye. Press the inner corner of the eye for a minute after instilling to reduce absorption into the body. Space other eye drops by at least 10 minutes. Do not stop without advice. Glaucoma damage is permanent.
Contains a beta-blocker: avoid with asthma, severe COPD, slow heart rate or heart block. Enough can absorb to affect the heart and lungs. Do not use with sulfonamide allergy without advice (dorzolamide). Remove contact lenses before use; reinsert after 15 minutes. Stinging, bitter taste and temporary blurring can occur. Do not drive until vision clears. Tell your doctor about verapamil, other beta-blockers or diabetes. Discard the bottle 4 weeks after opening. Store below 30°C.
