Overview

Diracip-M DS Tablets (15 pack) combine diloxanide furoate 500mg and metronidazole 400mg. A double-strength anti-amoebic treatment for intestinal protozoal infections common , including amoebiasis (amoebic dysentery) and giardiasis. Metronidazole kills the active parasites in the gut wall and tissues, while diloxanide clears the cyst forms from the bowel, reducing the risk of relapse and transmission. Together they offer complete treatment for amoebic infections that cause diarrhoea, stomach cramps and dysentery, helping patients recover fully under medical supervision.

Each tablet: diloxanide furoate 500mg, metronidazole 400mg.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual adult dose is one tablet two to three times daily with or after meals to reduce stomach upset, for the duration your doctor prescribes (commonly 5-10 days). Swallow whole with water. Do not crush or chew. Complete the full course even if you feel better early, otherwise the infection may return.

Do not drink alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after finishing. The combination with metronidazole causes flushing, vomiting and palpitations. May cause a metallic taste, nausea or dark urine (harmless). Not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Use with caution in liver disease, blood disorders or a history of seizures. Tell your doctor about other medicines, especially blood thinners. Store below 30°C.
