Senokot is a brand name of senna, a natural vegetable laxative that is used to treat constipation. It may also be given to empty the bowels before certain medical procedures or surgeries. Senokot is a stimulant laxative. It works by irritating bowel tissues, which results in bowel movements. The active ingredient in Senokot is purified senna, which is derived from the senna plant.
