Overview
Gaviscon Peppermint Liquid 200ml is the classic alginate heartburn remedy in a family-size bottle. On contact with stomach acid, its sodium alginate forms a soothing protective 'raft' that floats on top of the stomach contents, physically preventing acid reflux into the food pipe, while antacid salts calm excess acidity. The result is fast, long-lasting relief from heartburn, acid indigestion and that burning, rising discomfort after meals. With a fresh peppermint taste. A pharmacist-recommended staple for reflux-prone people, suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding on professional advice.
Per 10ml: sodium alginate 500mg, sodium bicarbonate 267mg, calcium carbonate 160mg (peppermint flavour). Full excipient list available on product packaging.
Directions for Use
Shake well before use. Adults and children over 12: take 10-20ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day, using the measure provided. Children 6-12 years: 5-10ml after meals and at bedtime, only as advised by a doctor or pharmacist. If symptoms persist beyond 7 days, seek medical review.
Contains sodium. Caution on salt-restricted diets and in kidney disease or heart failure; discuss regular use with a pharmacist. Seek prompt medical advice for difficulty swallowing, persistent vomiting, unintended weight loss or black stools. Generally suitable in pregnancy on advice. Take other medicines at least 2 hours apart, as antacids can reduce their absorption. Store below 30°C; do not refrigerate; use within the period stated after opening.
