Cardinol 25mg Film-Coated Tablets contain atenolol, a cardio-selective beta-blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina (chest pain), and to help protect the heart after a heart attack. Atenolol works specifically on the heart, slowing the heart rate and making the heart pump more efficiently. The 25mg strength is often used as a starting dose or for patients who need gentler blood pressure control, including some patients with kidney impairment. Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Cardinol is usually taken once daily, at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not chew or crush. It may take several weeks to feel the full benefit, and treatment is often long-term. Do not stop taking Cardinol suddenly. Your doctor will reduce the dose gradually if it needs to be stopped.

Do not use if you have a very slow heartbeat, certain heart-rhythm disorders or untreated heart failure. Use with caution in asthma or other breathing problems, and in diabetes. Atenolol can mask the warning signs of low blood sugar. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease. Atenolol is generally avoided in pregnancy. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Common side effects include tiredness, cold hands and feet, slow heart rate and nausea.
