Overview
Vingraf 0.5mg Capsules (from Cipla) contain tacrolimus, a powerful immunosuppressant medicine used mainly to prevent organ rejection after a transplant (such as kidney, liver or heart). Tacrolimus calms the immune system so it does not attack the transplanted organ, helping the body accept and keep it working. It is taken long-term alongside other anti-rejection medicines, with careful dose adjustment based on blood-level monitoring. The 0.5mg strength allows fine dose control. A specialist-prescribed, closely monitored medicine helping transplant patients protect their new organ. Confirm the active on the pack.
Active: Tacrolimus 0.5mg (as monohydrate) per capsule. Confirm on packaging.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine started and supervised by a transplant specialist. Take only as directed. Usually twice daily, about 12 hours apart, on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2-3 hours after food) and consistently the same way each time, as food affects absorption. Swallow whole with water (not grapefruit juice). Never change the brand, dose or timing yourself, and attend all blood tests. The dose is adjusted to your tacrolimus blood level.
Regular blood tests are essential to keep tacrolimus in the right range and to monitor the kidneys, blood sugar, potassium and blood pressure. It lowers your defences against infection. Report fever or signs of infection, and increases skin-cancer risk, so use sun protection. Avoid grapefruit, and tell every doctor and pharmacist you take it, as many medicines interact. Do not switch tacrolimus brands without specialist approval. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only under specialist care. Store below 25°C.
