Overview

Ampiclox 500mg is a combination antibiotic capsule containing ampicillin and cloxacillin. It is a prescription medicine used to treat a range of bacterial infections, including those of the skin and soft tissue, respiratory tract, ear, nose and throat, and urinary tract. Ampicillin tackles a broad range of bacteria, while cloxacillin works against penicillin-resistant staph bacteria. Together they provide broad-spectrum cover for mixed or hard-to-treat infections. Ampiclox works only against bacteria and will not help viral illnesses such as colds or flu.

Ampicillin 250mg and Cloxacillin 250mg per capsule (total 500mg).

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual dose is one 500mg capsule every 6 hours (four times a day), taken on an empty stomach. About 30 minutes to 1 hour before meals. With a glass of water. Complete the full course even if you feel better, to prevent the infection returning and to reduce antibiotic resistance.

Do not take if you are allergic to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics. Tell your doctor about any allergies. Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, asthma or a history of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Antibiotics can reduce the effect of oral contraceptives, so use additional protection. Seek urgent help for any rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing. Always finish the prescribed course. Store below 25°C in a dry place.
