Overview

Clavam 625mg is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combining amoxicillin with clavulanic acid (co-amoxiclav). The clavulanic acid protects the amoxicillin from bacteria that would otherwise resist it, widening the range of infections it can treat. It is prescribed for chest, throat, sinus, ear, urinary, dental, and skin and soft-tissue infections. Completing the full course is essential to clear the infection and limit antibiotic resistance. Supplied as a 20-tablet pack.

Active ingredients: Amoxicillin 500mg (as trihydrate) and Clavulanic acid 125mg (as potassium clavulanate) per tablet.

Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Swallow the tablet whole with water at the start of a meal to aid absorption and reduce stomach upset. The usual dose is one tablet twice or three times daily, spaced evenly. Finish the entire prescribed course even if you feel better.

Not suitable if you are allergic to penicillins or have had a previous reaction to co-amoxiclav, including jaundice. Tell your doctor about liver or kidney problems. May cause diarrhoea, nausea or thrush; report severe or persistent diarrhoea. It can reduce the reliability of oral contraceptives. Use additional precautions. Store below 25°C.
