Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Commonly one 500mg tablet twice daily after meals for 5-10 days depending on the infection, or a higher short course for amoebic dysentery. Swallow whole with water. Complete the full course even when symptoms settle, and maintain good hydration during diarrhoeal illness.

Strictly avoid alcohol during treatment and for 3 days after. The combination causes severe flushing, vomiting and palpitations. May cause drowsiness, dizziness, metallic taste or headache. Take care driving. Caution with liver disease, epilepsy and other neurological conditions; stop and report numbness or tingling in hands or feet. Avoid in the first trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding except on medical advice. Interacts with warfarin. Inform your doctor. Store below 30°C.
