Flagyl Suspension 200mg/5ml (100ml) is the trusted paediatric form of metronidazole from Sanofi, prescribed for amoebiasis (amoebic dysentery), giardiasis, anaerobic bacterial infections and some dental and gut infections in children. Metronidazole penetrates the parasites and bacteria that thrive without oxygen, destroying their DNA and clearing the infection. Metronidazole (as benzoate) equivalent to 200mg per 5ml oral suspension.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Give only as directed by a doctor. The dose is calculated by the child's weight and the infection being treated, typically given two to three times daily for 5-10 days. Shake well and measure with the cup or syringe provided. Give during or after meals to reduce stomach upset. Complete the full course even when symptoms settle.

A metallic taste, nausea and dark urine are common and harmless. Strictly avoid alcohol-containing products during and for 48 hours after treatment. Tell the doctor about liver disease, blood disorders or epilepsy, and all other medicines (interacts with warfarin and lithium). Prolonged or repeated courses need medical supervision. Report numbness or tingling. Use in the first trimester of pregnancy only if clearly needed. Store below 30°C protected from light.
