Flagyl Suspension contains metronidazole 200 mg per 5 ml. It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections and parasitic infections. It is used in infections of the brain, reproductive system, gastrointestinal tract, skin, vagina, and other areas of the body. Flagyl kills the bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging the DNA.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Flagyl 200 mg Suspension is to be taken with food. Avoid Flagyl 200 mg Suspension with herbs/food with anti-platelet activity such as alfalfa, anise, bilberry, grape seed, green tea, turmeric, fenugreek, garlic, ginger.
Flagyl 200 mg Suspension may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heartbeat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure with alcohol (Disulfiram reactions) thus alcohol should be avoided while on medication. Flagyl 200 mg Suspension is safe to use in patients with kidney disease but should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Flagyl 200 mg Suspension may be needed.
