Overview

Ornilox Tablets (10 pack) combine two anti-infectives. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, with ornidazole, an anti-anaerobic and antiprotozoal agent. For mixed gut and other infections. The pairing tackles both the aerobic bacteria and the anaerobic bacteria and protozoa (such as amoebae and Giardia) that often cause infectious and bloody diarrhoea together. This broad cover makes Ornilox a practical prescription choice when the precise cause of a stubborn gastrointestinal infection is unclear, helping people recover from significant diarrhoeal and dysenteric illness.

Actives: Ofloxacin 200mg and Ornidazole 500mg per tablet (confirm exact strengths on packaging).

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet twice daily, after meals, for the number of days prescribed (commonly 3-5). Swallow whole with a full glass of water and complete the full course even if you feel better. Keep well hydrated with oral rehydration solution. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for a few days after (ornidazole), and do not take with milk, antacids or iron supplements, which reduce antibiotic absorption.

Do not use with known allergy to quinolones or nitroimidazoles, or in epilepsy or certain nerve disorders. Avoid alcohol. It can cause flushing, nausea and palpitations. Fluoroquinolones can rarely cause tendon, nerve or blood-sugar effects. Stop and seek advice for tendon pain, pins and needles or palpitations. Avoid excess sun exposure. Not recommended in pregnancy, breastfeeding or for children unless a doctor directs. Store below 30°C.
