Overview

Zinnat 500mg Tablets from GSK contain cefuroxime axetil at full adult strength, a broad-spectrum second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is prescribed for moderate-to-severe bacterial infections including pneumonia and other chest infections, sinusitis, ear and throat infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft-tissue infections. The 500mg strength is typically used where higher antibiotic levels are needed, such as lower respiratory tract infections. A globally recognised GSK brand, Zinnat 500mg (10 tablets) is dispensed against prescription through licensed pharmacies.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual adult dose is one 500mg tablet twice daily (every 12 hours), taken after food for best absorption. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Complete the entire prescribed course even if you feel better earlier. Stopping early risks the infection returning and fuels antibiotic resistance.

Do not use if allergic to cefuroxime or other cephalosporins; mention any severe penicillin allergy to your doctor. Side effects can include diarrhoea, nausea, headache and rash. Seek urgent care for severe rash, facial or throat swelling, breathing difficulty or persistent watery/bloody diarrhoea. Tell your doctor about kidney problems and acid-reducing medicines, which can lower absorption. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding. Store below 30°C.
