Overview

Cataflam Syrup 1.8mg/ml (120ml) is Novartis's paediatric diclofenac suspension, prescribed for children's pain, inflammation and fever. Including post-operative pain, painful ear and throat infections, and injury-related swelling. Diclofenac is a proven anti-inflammatory (NSAID) that works at the site of inflammation, easing pain and bringing temperature down where simple paracetamol is not enough. The pleasant-tasting syrup allows accurate weight-based dosing for little patients, used under a doctor's direction for children needing stronger relief.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor. Dosing is calculated by the child's weight (commonly 0.5-2mg/kg daily in divided doses). Shake well before use and measure with the cup or syringe provided. Give with or immediately after food or milk to protect the stomach. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time, and do not combine with other NSAIDs such as ibuprofen.

Do not use with dehydration, vomiting and diarrhoea (kidney risk), aspirin/NSAID-triggered asthma, stomach ulcers or bleeding disorders, and avoid in suspected viral illness in unwell children except on medical advice. Not for children below the age or weight on the label. Watch for black stools, persistent vomiting or rash and stop if they occur. Tell the doctor about kidney, liver or heart conditions.
