Ponstan Forte 500mg Tablets contain mefenamic acid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) particularly valued for period pain (dysmenorrhoea) and heavy menstrual bleeding, as well as headache, dental pain, muscular aches and post-operative pain. Mefenamic acid blocks the prostaglandins that drive both pain and the strong uterine cramping of painful periods. Making Ponstan a long-trusted monthly companion for women whose periods disrupt work, school or sleep. The Forte 500mg strength provides full prescription-level relief in a single tablet, used short-term during the painful days.

Directions for Use

This medicine should be used as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual adult dose is one 500mg tablet three times daily, taken with or after food to protect the stomach. For period pain, start at the onset of pain or bleeding and continue for the first few days as needed. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time. Do not exceed three tablets in 24 hours.

Do not use if you have a stomach ulcer, history of gastrointestinal bleeding, severe kidney, liver or heart failure, or allergy to aspirin or other NSAIDs (including asthma attacks triggered by them). Take with food; stop and seek care for black stools, vomiting blood or severe stomach pain. May cause diarrhoea. Stop if it occurs. Avoid in the third trimester of pregnancy; check first if pregnant, breastfeeding, asthmatic or on blood thinners or blood pressure medicines. Store below 30°C.
