Overview

Dermovate Ointment (30g) contains clobetasol propionate, a very potent topical corticosteroid for severe, stubborn skin conditions. It rapidly calms intense inflammation, redness, itching, thickening and scaling in conditions that have not responded to milder steroids. Such as resistant eczema (dermatitis), psoriasis, lichen planus and discoid lupus. The greasy ointment base is especially suited to dry, thickened or scaly skin, sealing in moisture while the steroid works. A powerful short-course treatment for patients with severe skin flare-ups under medical guidance.

Clobetasol propionate 0.05% w/w in an ointment base.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor. Apply a thin film to the affected skin once or twice daily for a short course (usually no more than 2-4 weeks). A little goes a long way. Rub in gently and wash hands after use unless treating the hands. Do not use under airtight dressings, on the face, or for longer than prescribed without review.

Very potent. Not for use on the face, in skin folds or on broken or infected skin unless specifically directed, and not for prolonged use, as it can thin the skin, cause stretch marks and be absorbed into the body. Avoid in untreated bacterial, fungal or viral skin infections. Do not get in the eyes. Stop and seek advice if the condition worsens or signs of infection appear.
